Florida International University Study Abroad Program's Intensive Language and Culture in Kyoto, Japan. Provides students a comprehensive introduction to Japanese language and culture with the partnership of Kyoto's Ritsumeikan University. One of the program's attractions is that Ritsumeikan University students also participate as "buddies" and help in the Japanese classes as well as accompanying FIU students on most of the fieldwork excursions. A harmonious blend of the ancient and modern makes Kyoto the cultural and historical center of Japan. It is home to many famous festivals, as well as shrines and temples such as Ryoanji Temple, with its Zen Rock garden, and the Golden Pavilions. Kyoto is also a progressive city where high-tech companies work alongside many traditional industries, creating a study environment that is unique in both its composition and ambiance. It truly was an unforgettable experience.
